In 2000, Justin was the first Australian male to contest the Shot Put at the Olympics for 40 years. He won Australia's first ever shot put gold in a major championship at the 2002 C'wealth Games. His 7th place finish at the 2004 Olympics was the highest ever result for an Australian male thrower at the Olympics.
