Herb became the youngest athlete to break the 4 minute mile and went on to break it on 17 occasions.
Herb lost only one race over 1500m or the mile in his life when in 1953 at 14yo, he was beaten in a school race by a boy only 3 years older than himself.
Herb was voted the greatest miler of all time in the late 1980's.
